English version

The Mona Lisa, created by Leonardo, is a portrait of great importance and is considered an incomparable art expression. The name was derived from the picture of Lisa Gherardini, and it is a painting with unique characteristics:

  1. She does not pose facing forward, but at an angle (3/4), with her left arm resting on the arm of a chair and her left hand placed on the other. The figure has a background formed of a mountainous and watery landscape.
  2. Her face is covered with light, which highlights her sideways gaze directed towards the observer and her slight smile. Further, the gradient softens the outline that surrounds the figure in the landscape. The environmental air makes rocks, valleys, and rivers evanescent and distant, turning light blue in the distance.
  3. It is the painter’s will to represent not only the features of the woman but also her personality, revealed by her enigmatic smile, gaze, and position of her hands. The particularity of this lies precisely in the communicative relationship it establishes with the viewer.
